An impressive sculptural bird in flight crowns the top.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eA mechanical push\/lever assembly activates the internal bell\/clapper. These decorative bells are variously described as dinner bells, servant bells, hotel\/reception bells or table bells, and comparable examples were produced and sold in France during the mid-to-late 19th century.
